Amman, Sept. 29 (Petra) – The Public Security Directorate (PSD)’s Department of Correction and Rehabilitation Centers on Monday took part in the 2025 Reading Marathon organized by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, with broad participation from institutions and stakeholders.
The initiative is part of the department’s comprehensive reform approach aimed at fostering a culture of reading among inmates, enhancing knowledge and instilling positive values to support their rehabilitation and reintegration into society after serving their sentences.
Libraries across correctional centers saw strong engagement from inmates after preparations were completed, including the provision of diverse book collections and the organization of cultural activities alongside the marathon.
The Reading Marathon is regarded as one of the country’s leading annual cultural initiatives, designed to encourage reading across all age groups and reinforce the book’s role as a tool for continuous learning and personal development.
