Customs Department acquires ISO information security management certification

Amman, May 21 (Petra) – The Jordan Customs Department (JCD) has obtained the international ISO 27001 certification for information security management, after passing a rigorous assessment by the international company TUV.

“Obtaining this certification is the result of tireless efforts to enhance the quality of performance and provide customs services that meet international standards,” commented JCD Director General Brigadier General Ahmad Akalik.

“It is a recognition by an independent international team of qualified auditors that the department has the necessary information security controls to protect data,” he said.

The department said in a statement that it was able to meet all the requirements of the new standards to renew its certification, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance information security and develop its electronic services to achieve quality and reliability.
