Zurich, April 3, 2026 (SUNA) – Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minnawi, reaffirmed his firm commitment to Sudan’s unity and his support for the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), during a visit to the Swiss city of Zurich. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Minnawi said he held an important meeting with members of the Zurich City Parliament, Jane Baily and Johann Widmer, during which he reviewed the current situation in Sudan, focusing on grave violations affecting the people of Darfur, as well as the humanitarian and security challenges they face. He stressed the need to accelerate development efforts and create a safe environment that would enable internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees to return to their homes and resume normal life. Minnawi also renewed his call on the international community to stand by Sudan and to designate the Janjaweed militia as a terrorist organization in order to halt violations and ensure accountability for victims.BH/BH
