KHARTOUM, June 9, 2026 (SUNA) — Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Professor Ahmed Modawi Musa reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to all students enrolled in higher education institutions, describing them as a trust under the ministry’s responsibility and stressing the ministry’s keenness to safeguard their academic future and ensure that no student is deprived of education because of the war imposed on the country. The Minister on Tuesday issued a decision aimed at protecting the rights of all students affiliated with higher education institutions across Sudan. The decision seeks to ease the burden on families and facilitate continued access to higher education within the country. It directs all higher education and scientific research institutions to comply with the provisions of the 2018 Unified Tuition Fees Regulations, which stipulate that students shall continue their studies under the same tuition fees applicable at the time of their admission until graduation, without any increase. The decision further instructed institutions to reserve the seats of students who discontinued or suspended their studies due to the war by placing them under temporary academic deferment, and to re-admit them to their respective institutions no later than the beginning of the 2027–2028 academic year.BH/BH
