Doha, August 26 (QNA) – Al Rayyan coach Vicente Moreno expressed his hope of defeating Al Wakrah on Thursday in Week 2 of the 2026-2027 Doha Bank Stars League.
Speaking at a press conference, Moreno said his team’s opening win over Lusail was important, but stressed the need to continue winning.
He described Al Wakrah as a strong team and expected a difficult match.
Al Rayyan goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Nada said the team was focused on securing another three points, despite expecting a tough game.
Al Wakrah coach Jose Luis Sierra said his team had prepared well and was in good shape after a strong opening performance against Qatar SC.
He added that some areas needed improvement but believed his team had a good chance of beating Al Rayyan.
Al Wakrah player Issa Laidouni said the team had trained with determination and was ready to achieve a positive result.
The match will be played at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. Al Rayyan are fourth with three points after beating Lusail 1-0, while Al Wakrah are fifth with one point following a 2-2 draw with Qatar SC. (QNA)
