Doha, August 28 (QNA) – Al Ahli and Lusail played to a dramatic 3-3 draw at Al Thumama Stadium in Week 2 of the 2026-2027 season Doha Bank Stars League on Friday.
Al Ahli’s Julian Draxler opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the seventh minute after Omid Ebrahimi fouled Erik Exposito. Following a lengthy VAR review, the referee awarded the spot kick.
Lusail hit back five minutes later when Benjamin Bourigeaud was penalised for handball. Rodrigo Moreno calmly converted from the spot, firing a left-footed effort into the bottom-right corner.
Lusail then completed the first-half turnaround before the break. Naif Al Hadhrami won possession in midfield and released Farhad Esmaeil with a sublime pass, allowing him to finish and give his side a 2-1 lead.
Ismail Mohammed equalised for Al Ahli six minutes after the restart before Draxler struck his second of the night in the 63rd minute to put his team back in front.
However, Lusail refused to surrender, with Rodrigo scoring a dramatic injury-time equaliser to secure a share of the points after an entertaining six-goal encounter. (QNA)
