AMMAN, Aug. 31 (Petra) – The Eastern Military Zone successfully
thwarted an attempt early Monday morning to smuggle a large quantity
of narcotics across its sector of responsibility using guided
balloons.
Border Guard units detected the incoming balloons, intercepted and
downed them within Jordanian territory, and seized the illicit
substances loaded aboard in coordination with security agencies and
the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The confiscated materials have been transferred to the competent
authorities to complete legal procedures.
The Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army reaffirmed its unwavering resolve
to crack down on all cross-border infiltration and smuggling
attempts, actively countering evolving trafficking methods and
deploying rigorous operational measures to safeguard national
security.
Border Guard units maintain high vigilance along all frontiers,
performing their duties to protect the Kingdom’s borders and
neutralize any threats to public safety and stability.
