Cairo, March 25 (QNA) – There were no signs that Egypt had experienced any change or increase in background radiation levels, said the Media Center of the Cabinet in a statement Wednesday.
It pushed back against rumblings in news outlets suggesting that Egypt was affected by potential radiation leaks due to developments playing out in the region.
Upon reaching out to the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA), the center said there was no evidence supporting those claims.
The center also assured that background radiation is being monitored 24/7 through ENRRA’s ubiquitous nationwide radiation monitoring, early warning, and reporting systems, which leverage cutting-edge technologies.
In addition, ENRRA recalled that nuclear facilities in the regional periphery are being monitored based on reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and in constant coordination with relevant national authorities. (QNA)
