Cairo, March 28 (QNA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held telephone calls on Saturday with several counterparts and European officials to discuss rapid developments and escalating military tensions in the Middle East.

He spoke with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, as well as officials from the European Commission, according to a statement from Egypt’s Foreign Ministry.

The discussions stressed the urgent need to strengthen de-escalation efforts and support regional security and stability.

Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s ongoing coordination with regional partners to advance US-Iran negotiations, aiming to ease tensions and prevent further escalation with potentially severe consequences.

He emphasized that prioritizing diplomacy and dialogue remains the only viable path to avoid a wider regional conflict.

The Egyptian Minister also reaffirmed Egypt’s strong condemnation of attacks on Gulf states and Jordan, expressing full solidarity with those countries in confronting threats to their security and sovereignty.

In addition, the talks addressed the broader economic impact of regional conflict on the global economy. European officials highlighted the resilience of Egypt’s economy, noting its ability to withstand external shocks despite the risks posed by a large-scale war on the world’s economies and its impact on economic growth.
