Amman, Aug. 13 (Petra) – The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) announced on Wednesday that smart meters now cover 87 percent of electricity connections across the Kingdom.
The commission said this milestone reflects Jordan’s commitment to digital transformation in the electricity sector, enhancing service efficiency and promoting sustainability.
In its monthly report highlighting key achievements, the EMRC noted the launch of a radiation monitoring system at Queen Alia International Airport in cooperation with the Canadian government. The commission also reported the seizure of nine vehicles violating regulations in the Samra Free Zone during a targeted inspection campaign.
The statement added that electricity distribution companies have been directed to avoid any scheduled power outages during the high school exams period and to maintain the highest levels of technical and regulatory readiness.
