Environment minister talks climate action cooperation with UN officials

Amman, January 28 (Petra) — Environment Minister Muawieh Radaideh met Tuesday with UN Resident Coordinator in Jordan Sherry Reitsema-Anderson and UNDP Resident Representative Randa Abu Al-Hassan on cooperation on climate action and sustainable development priorities in the Kingdom.

Radaideh discussed monitoring progress in addressing climate challenges and fostering collaboration with various national sectors to achieve sustainable development goals.

He urged enhancing partnerships between UN organisations in Jordan to align with national needs and support joint environmental initiatives.

He added that realising the vision for economic modernisation requires national and international efforts and a strong commitment to environmental and climate principles.

Radaideh highlighted the importance of continued dialogue and coordination between the government and UN organisations to bolster national and global efforts in tackling climate change challenges.

Ritsema-Anderson praised the Ministry of Environment’s climate action initiatives, reaffirming the United Nations’ readiness to support Jordan in fulfilling its climate commitments and enhancing its national capacities.

Abu Al-Hassan underscored the importance of collaboration between the UN Development Programme and the Jordanian government in implementing initiatives that reduce carbon emissions and promote the sustainability of natural resources.
