Environment Ministry signs MoU to promote green skills projects

Amman, Aug. 12 (Petra) – The Ministry of Environment and the
non-profit Qutoof Professional Development (Qutoof PD) signed a
memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in
supporting the transition to a green economy, establishing the
principles of the circular economy, and developing green skills and
capabilities.

According to a ministry statement issued Wednesday, the MoU was
signed by Minister of Environment Dr. Ayman Suleiman and Qutouf PD
CEO Buthaina Abu Roza, in the presence of the ministry’s
Secretary-General, Dr. Omar Arabiat, and several representatives from
both sides.

Talking at the signing ceremony, Suleiman said the MoU represents a
“significant” step to expand national partnerships in the
sustainability field and translate national trends to achieve a
green and circular economy into applicable programs and initiatives.

He noted that these initiatives will contribute to improving resource
efficiency, supporting innovation, developing green skills and jobs,
and empowering youth and entrepreneurs.

He also highlighted the importance of investing in building national
capacities and developing competencies to align with the rapid
changes in the labor market and requirements of sustainable
development.

He said this vision would enhance youth’s ability to contribute to
developing “innovative” environmental solutions and projects.

For her part, Abu Roza noted the importance of the partnership with
the Ministry of Environment in developing specialized training and
vocational programs, aimed to link skills to labor market needs,
support innovation and entrepreneurship, and raise environmental
awareness among students and youth.

As for its scope, the memo features steps to implement training and
vocational programs, develop environmental solutions and innovations,
support integration of sustainable production and consumption models
and enhance resource efficiency.

Additionally, both sides will cooperate to develope opportunities
related to the blue economy, and build effective partnerships between
various sectors.
