Ma’an, Sep.18 (Petra) – Environment Protection Directorate in Ma’an governorate conducted 69 environmental inspection visits during the first half of this year for various facilities and sites.
This effort comes as part of the directorate’s efforts to enhance environmental oversight and ensure compliance with approved standards and requirements.
In its statement Thursday, the directorate announced a total of 39 inspection visits were made for 12 diverse facilities, while monitors examined 9 sites to examine ecological complaints.
The statement added that inspections also covered 4 sites for public safety purposes, 9 farms, and 5 springs.
The directorate added that it handled 30 environmental requests and conducted inspection visits for this purpose.
After completing the required studies and procedures to ensure the projects’ compliance with ecological conditions and standards, environmental licenses were granted to 26 development enterprises in agricultural, industrial, craft, and public sectors.
However, 3 projects were rejected for non-compliance reasons, while 1 project was designated for a comprehensive environmental impact assessment study.
On their goals, the directorate noted these procedures aim to protect natural resources and ensure a healthy and safe environment in the governorate.
