Amman, Jan 21 (Petra) – The European Council announced the approval of a third aid package worth €60 million for the Lebanese Armed Forces as part of the European Peace Facility.
In a memo issued in Brussels on Tuesday, the Council stated that this measure aims to enhance the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces, enabling them, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701, to redeploy and maintain stability in the area south of the Litani River.
The European Union launched the Peace Facility in March 2021 to fund measures related to the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, focusing on conflict prevention, peacekeeping, and promoting international security and stability.
