Khartoum, June 23, 2026 (SUNA) — The Sudanese Businessperson and Employers Federation announced arrangements for a European investment mission to Sudan from 5 to 11 September 2026, with the participation of companies and investors from Europe and Germany to explore investment opportunities and establish direct partnerships with the Sudanese private sector. Speaking to SUNA on Tuesday, Head of the Federation’s delegation, Mohannad Awad Mahmoud Siddig, said the delegation participated in a high-level international meeting organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in cooperation with the Union of Arab Chambers and a number of development institutions and donor agencies at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna. The meeting discussed support for economic and industrial recovery efforts in Sudan, Syria, and Palestine, with the participation of representatives from governments, the private sector, and Arab and international financial and development institutions. Mohannad said the planned European investment mission was among the meeting’s key outcomes, noting that a presentation delivered by Magdi Mufaddal received broad praise for its comprehensive overview of Sudan’s economic conditions and recovery opportunities. He further disclosed that the Federation’s delegation held meetings with several international partners and officials, including UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller, resulting in understandings aimed at supporting Sudan’s economic recovery efforts. He added that UNIDO had expressed its commitment to establishing a direct partnership with the Sudanese private sector during the next phase. The discussions also explored opportunities for economic and investment cooperation, enhancing the participation of Sudan’s private sector in international initiatives related to economic recovery and industrial development, and establishing direct channels of communication with international institutions, donor entities, and Arab and international chambers of commerce. Mohannad said the Federation’s participation helped convey a realistic picture of Sudan’s economy to international institutions and donors, opened new prospects for cooperation and investment partnerships, and strengthened the presence of the Sudanese private sector in international discussions on economic recovery and reconstruction. He added that the outcomes of the meetings are expected to enhance Sudan’s prospects for attracting international investments and partnerships, particularly in agriculture, mining, food processing, energy, and infrastructure. He stressed that the Sudanese private sector possesses the expertise and capacity to contribute effectively to recovery and reconstruction efforts when provided with an enabling environment and the necessary partnerships. Mohannad underscored the importance of continued coordination between the Sudanese Businesspersons and Employers Federation, UNIDO, and international partners to translate the outcomes of the meetings into practical programmes and projects that support Sudan’s economy and promote sustainable development.BH/BH
