European Stocks Close Higher

Brussels, May 20 (QNA) – European stock indexes closed higher today after data from the Office for National Statistics showed that inflation in Britain eased to 2.8 percent in April. Investors also monitored rising US Treasury yields, with the yield on 30-year Treasury bonds climbing above 5.19 percent, its highest level since 2007, while the yield on 10-year bonds approached 4.69 percent.

The STOXX Europe 600 rose 1.51 percent to close at 620.60 points. France’s CAC 40 gained about 1.7 percent to end at 8,117.42 points.

Britain’s FTSE 100 advanced about 1 percent to 10,432.34 points, while Germany’s DAX climbed about 1.4 percent to close at 24,732.28 points. (QNA)
