EU’s von der Leyen, UK PM Starmer call Gaza situation ‘unacceptable’

Amman, May 19 (Petra) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Monday described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “unacceptable” and called for an immediate lifting of the blockade to allow the delivery of aid.

According to Euronews, von der Leyen said during a visit to London that no humanitarian supplies had entered Gaza for two months, underscoring the urgent need to ensure aid reaches those in need.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also condemned the conditions in the Gaza Strip, calling them “intolerable.” He told reporters that his government was working closely with allies to coordinate an international response to the worsening crisis.

“This is an extremely dangerous and unacceptable situation,” Starmer said. “That’s why we are working with other leaders on how best to respond.”
