Finance Minister Discusses Resumption of Financing and Support for Recovery with Kuwait Fund

Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim and Governor of Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) Amna Mirghani held talks with Director-General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), H.E. Osama Al-Attal, on strengthening the development partnership, resuming financing, and supporting recovery and reconstruction projects. In a press statement, the minister praised the historic relations between Sudan and the Fund, commending its contributions to financing and implementing development and strategic projects, particularly in the fields of dams, sugar production, railways, and infrastructure. He also praised the agreements recently signed to finance a number of humanitarian projects, expressing his appreciation for the Fund’s continued support. Dr. Jibril Ibrahim affirmed the Ministry of Finance’s commitment to addressing outstanding obligations in a manner that would pave the way for the resumption of financing and directing it toward infrastructure, basic services, recovery, and reconstruction projects.Central Bank of Sudan Governor Amna Mirghani stressed the importance of strengthening financial and banking coordination with the Fund to create the appropriate conditions for resuming development cooperation and financing. She highlighted the importance of directing financing toward projects that support production, economic activity, infrastructure, and basic services.For his part, Osama Al-Attal affirmed the depth of the historic relations with Sudan, noting that Sudan was the first country in which the Fund financed a project following its establishment in 1961. He affirmed the Fund’s commitment to continuing cooperation and supporting development, recovery, and reconstruction projects.The two sides agreed to continue coordination on priority projects and complete the necessary technical and financial arrangements to strengthen development cooperation during the next phase.BH/BH
