The Minister of Finance participated in the meeting of Constituency No. 15, which includes Sudan, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Gabon, on the sidelines of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group held in Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of Congo. The meetings witnessed broad participation from finance ministers, central bank governors, and representatives of financial and development institutions across Africa. During the meeting, Executive Director of the constituency Dr. Siddig Mohamed Al-Obeid presented the group’s annual report, reviewing its activities, performance assessment, and key programs and initiatives implemented to support economic and social development efforts in member states, as well as challenges facing African economies amid regional and international economic changes. Participants discussed several issues of common interest, including enhancing development financing opportunities, increasing the constituency countries’ contribution within AfDB institutions, supporting capacity-building programs, and expanding employment opportunities and fair representation for member states within the Bank’s structures. During the discussions, the Minister of Finance stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination among constituency countries in a manner that serves shared interests, underscoring the need to develop financing mechanisms and facilitate access to financial resources necessary to support development projects, infrastructure, and essential services in member states. The minister also highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of national governments in managing and implementing development projects to ensure efficient utilization of resources and maximize economic and social benefits, reaffirming Sudan’s commitment to supporting joint efforts aimed at enhancing economic stability and achieving sustainable development across Africa. The meeting also witnessed an exchange of views and expertise among member states regarding economic policies and financial reforms, in addition to reviewing national experiences in mobilizing domestic resources, increasing revenues, and improving the investment environment to strengthen African countries’ ability to confront economic challenges and achieve sustainable growth.
