Finance Ministry Affirms Support for Livestock Resources Ministry Projects

The Ministry of Finance affirmed its commitment to supporting projects of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries, as part of the state’s policy of supporting productive sectors.Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim made the remarks on Friday during a coordination meeting with Minister of Livestock Resources and Fisheries Professor Ahmed Al-Mansouri at the Ministry’s headquarters.Dr. Gebreil affirmed the government’s interest in developing investment partnerships and seeking to attract external financing for livestock-sector projects, with a focus on livestock production centers geared toward exports, alongside efforts to safeguard the health of the national herd, thereby boosting Sudan’s exports of livestock products.The meeting also discussed opportunities for Sudan to benefit from its allocated share of tuna resources in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean, with the quota determined by the relevant international tuna organization. It was agreed that the quota would be offered through an official tender to secure the highest possible return, following the completion of the necessary legal framework and legislation to ensure the anticipated benefits for Sudan.The meeting reviewed the Ministry of Livestock Resources’ emergency projects in the areas of rehabilitating laboratories and quarantine facilities, as well as dairy production projects. The two sides agreed to support these projects according to the priorities identified by the Ministry of Animal Resources.The Ministry of Finance also pledged to work toward settling Sudan’s membership fees in international organizations concerned with animal health, in which Sudan is a member, in order to maximize the country’s benefit from the services provided by these organizations.The meeting emphasized the need to develop solutions that would help advance production toward achieving self-sufficiency and increasing exports.The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries, along with directors of relevant directorates and legal directorates from both ministries.BH/BH
