Istanbul, June 21 (Petra) – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi, took part on Saturday in the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held under the theme: “The Organization of Islamic Cooperation in a Changing World.”

The meeting tackled collective efforts to halt the dangerous escalation in the region as a result of the Israeli aggression against Iran, which threatens regional security and stability.

It also discussed ways to immediately end the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and ensure the entry of aid to the Strip, which is suffering under an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.

Safadi, who chaired an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League on Friday on the repercussions of the Israeli aggression against Iran, reiterated Jordan’s call for concerted action to end the aggression and regional escalation, and achieve comprehensive calm, which is only attainable through curbing the Israeli aggression against Iran and Gaza and halting the illegal measures in the occupied West Bank and attacks on Syria and Lebanon.

There is only one way to bring about security, stability and peace in the region; ending the occupation and implementing the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, stressed Safadi.

On the sidelines of the conference, Safadi held separate meetings with his counterparts from Algeria, Syria, Iran, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
