Davos, Jan. 22 (Petra) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi will represent Jordan on Thursday at the launch of the ‘Board of Peace’, announced by US President Donald Trump, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The participation comes after Jordan announced on Wednesday its acceptance of an invitation extended by President Trump to His Majesty King Abdullah II to join the ‘Board of Peace’.
Safadi had earlier affirmed Jordan’s support for the peace initiative in a joint statement with the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt. The statement emphasized commitment to supporting the implementation of the ‘Board of Peace’ as a transitional body, as outlined in the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
The plan, adopted under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, aims to secure a lasting ceasefire, support the reconstruction of Gaza, and advance a just and durable peace based on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state in accordance with international law.
