London, July 24 (QNA) – Newcastle United announced on Friday the signing of French midfielder Aladji Bamba from AS Monaco on a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.

In a statement, the Premier League club said the 20-year-old had completed his move and would wear the No. 8 shirt for Newcastle.

Bamba enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 season with Monaco, making 25 appearances in all competitions and helping the club secure seventh place in Ligue 1 and qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

He made his senior debut for Monaco in August 2025, coming on as a late substitute in a 3-1 Ligue 1 victory over Le Havre, before making his first start the following month in a 2-1 away win over Auxerre.

Bamba also featured in five UEFA Champions League matches, facing top clubs including Real Madrid and Juventus, before Monaco was eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain, which went on to win the competition.

The French midfielder is Newcastle’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season. (QNA)
