Amman, Sept 3 (Petra) – The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Al-Budaiwi, on Wednesday strongly condemned what he described as dangerous and suspicious calls by an Israeli minister to expand settlements and annex the occupied West Bank.
According to the Saudi state news agency (SPA), Al-Budaiwi said the incitement reflects Israel’s “persistent and systematic approach to destabilizing security and stability in the region, its insistence on undermining prospects for peace, its blatant defiance of international charters, and continued violations of laws and conventions.”
He urged the international community to take “immediate and decisive measures” to halt such rhetoric and what he called dangerous practices by Israeli forces.
Al-Budaiwi reiterated the GCC’s support for the Palestinian people in confronting these “aggressive statements and practices” and backing their legitimate rights, foremost among them establishing an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
