GCC chief condemns Israeli strikes on Syrian military airport

Amman, Aug. 18 (Petra) — Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation
Council (GCC) Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi strongly condemned Israeli air
strikes targeting Abu al-Duhur military airport in Syria’s Idlib
province.

In a statement published on the council’s official website on
Tuesday, Albudaiwi said the Israeli attack on Syrian territory
constituted an unacceptable violation of Syria’s sovereignty and
territorial integrity and contravened international rules and norms
prohibiting interference with the sovereignty of states.

He warned that the continuation of such actions could further
escalate tensions and undermine regional and international efforts to
promote security and stability in the region.
