KHARTOUM, June 11, 2026 (SUNA) — The General Authority for Meteorology announced the organization of the Third Climate Forum, scheduled to take place from 15 to 16 June at Al Salam Hotel in Khartoum. Director of Emergency at the Authority, Mohamed Ahmed Sabah Al-Khair, said during the 56th briefing conference of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities, organized by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Thursday at the Cultural Centre in Omdurman, that the forum will witness wide participation from relevant stakeholders and will discuss various climate-related issues, in addition to reviewing forecasts for the 2026 climate season. He noted that the Authority has active partnerships with several government institutions and bodies, pointing out that 15 memoranda of understanding have been signed with different ministries and institutions. He also affirmed the Authority’s readiness to cooperate with the media and contribute to training media personnel in fields related to climate and meteorology. He further stated that climate change has contributed to rising temperatures, increased concentrations of greenhouse gases, and carbon emissions, while noting that there are no indications of floods or flash floods during the current year.
