Mafraq, Dec. 10 (Petra) Germany’s Ambassador to Jordan Bertram von Moltke visited the Umm el-Jimal Municipality and its archaeological site on Wednesday.
In a statement, the municipal committee said the ambassador reviewed the rehabilitation project of the ancient Umm el-Jimal water channel, which was carried out in the second half of last year with funding from the German Development Bank (KfW) and in cooperation with the International Labour Organization.
The ambassador praised the completed project, noting that new projects are currently under study and will be announced at a later stage.
Mohammad Abu Alim, head of the Umm el-Jimal municipal committee, underscored the town’s need for further initiatives of this kind, expressing appreciation for Germany’s support in restoring the historic water channel.
