Gulf Health Council Launches Campaign to Promote Leading Healthy Lifestyle
Riyadh, June 28 (QNA) – The Gulf Health Council (GHC) has launched an awareness campaign under the slogan “Choose Healthy,” running from June 28 to July 11. The campaign aims to promote leading healthy lifestyles and raise community awareness about the importance of making smart and comprehensive healthy choices in nutrition and physical activity.
In a statement released today, the GHC said the campaign is part of its efforts to promote public health in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and empower community members to adopt sustainable healthy behaviors. This will be achieved through simplified educational content highlighting the relationship between healthy food, physical activity, and smart daily choices, especially given the increasing presence of the digital environment and smart applications in people’s lives and the tools they offer to support healthy decisions and promote a more balanced lifestyle.
The Gulf Health Council, through its “Choose Healthy” campaign, emphasized that building a healthy lifestyle begins with awareness of daily choices in nutrition and physical activity. It also highlighted the importance of making smart use of the surrounding environment and digital tools to support healthy behaviors and enhance quality of life, positively impacting the health of individuals and the Gulf community.
The campaign focuses on several awareness messages, most notably promoting the concept of readily available and accessible healthy choices. It underscores that improving lifestyles starts with simple, recurring decisions, such as meal planning, portion control, choosing higher-nutritional-value alternatives, and utilizing features available in digital applications, such as favorites, ratings, reminders, step counting, and participating in motivating group challenges.
The campaign highlights the importance of utilizing the surrounding environment to support healthy behaviors by engaging in physical activity through simple and accessible means, such as walking in parks or within climate-controlled shopping malls, walking with family or friends, using stairs instead of elevators whenever possible, doing simple home exercises, and utilizing online exercise videos. It also encourages the use of activity and step tracking apps to monitor progress and maintain motivation.
The campaign emphasizes the importance of preventative policies in the Gulf countries, including taxes on certain unhealthy products, as these are considered health tools that guide consumers towards better alternatives and promote awareness of the nutritional and economic value of healthy choices.
