New York, Oct. 8 (Petra) – The United Nations said on Wednesday that Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres is closely following the situation in Madagascar and is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and destruction of property since the start of youth-led protests on September 25.
In a statement issued on his behalf, Guterres stressed that demonstrations must be conducted peacefully, with full respect for life, property, and the rule of law.
He also called for “dialogue to pave a constructive way forward.”
