Port Sudan, June 16, 2026 (SUNA) — Federal Humanitarian Aid Commissioner (HAC) Dr. Salwa Adam Biniya affirmed the commission’s readiness to provide full support for the registration of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from North Darfur State residing in Khartoum State, stressing its commitment to meeting their needs once the registration process and data verification are completed. The remarks came during her meeting in Port Sudan on Tuesday with North Darfur State Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Mohamed Abdel-Gadir Jallab on the sidelines of a workshop for state humanitarian aid commissioners. In a Facebook post, Jallab said that the State Government and the Humanitarian Aid Commission are moving forward with the registration process at an accelerated pace and in line with the highest professional standards. He noted that the exercise is not merely a statistical undertaking but a carefully designed step aimed at safeguarding the rights of IDPs to humanitarian assistance and basic services, while addressing shortcomings that affected previous registration efforts in Khartoum.  Jallab added that accurate registration constitutes the cornerstone of any subsequent humanitarian or development intervention and helps ensure that healthcare, education, and protection services for women and children reach those who are entitled to them. The initiative, he said, underscores the commitment of the North Darfur Humanitarian Aid Commission to its national and humanitarian responsibilities toward displaced persons and to ensuring the equitable distribution of assistance.BH/BH
