Geneva, May 21 (Petra) – Minister of Health Feras Hawari strongly condemned the deprivation of basic life necessities including food, water, and medical care for the people of Gaza, as well as the targeting of medical personnel and health infrastructure. He described these actions as blatant violations of international law that jeopardize public health security across the region.

Speaking on Wednesday during the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Hawari delivered Jordan’s national statement during discussions on a draft resolution titled “Health Conditions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the Occupied Syrian Golan.”

Hawari expressed Jordan’s deep concern over the ongoing deterioration of health and humanitarian conditions in these areas. He emphasized the urgent need to uphold the principles of international humanitarian law, particularly those safeguarding civilians and medical facilities, and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian and medical aid.

He affirmed Jordan’s full support for the proposed resolution, calling for its immediate implementation. This includes providing both technical and financial support to the Palestinian healthcare system and ensuring accountability for the health and humanitarian violations that have occurred.

In closing, Hawari underscored the importance of adhering to the core principles of the World Health Organization chief among them, the commitment to provide healthcare and medical protection for all individuals without discrimination.
