The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, met on Sunday in his office with a visiting delegation comprising the Canadian organization “Sadakat,” the Canadian International Organization for Development and Relief, and the Turkish Blue Crescent International Organization, to discuss the identification of priority projects across various health sectors for targeted support. The minister reviewed a range of urgent projects and priority areas requiring immediate intervention, stressing the importance of sustained support from international and UN organizations for Sudan’s health sector, particularly during the current post-war reconstruction phase, and called for increased medical assistance. For her part, the Deputy Director-General of International Health, Dr. Reem Jalal, praised in a press statement the contributions made by the “Sadakat” organization in several fields in Sudan. She noted that the delegation reviewed services provided in recent periods as well as future plans to support the health system amid efforts to restore services in hospitals and health centers, pledging further interventions in Khartoum and other states, including vector-control projects. Meanwhile, the Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Sadakat Canada, Al-Amin Subair, said that extensive discussions were held on the current state of the health system, the extent of destruction caused by the war, and ways to support the provision of medical equipment and other humanitarian assistance. He noted that the minister clearly identified priority projects to be targeted for support, including the rehabilitation of health facilities and hospitals, as well as support for volunteer medical staff and public health awareness programmes, pledging to exert all efforts to implement these directives in a way that serves Sudanese citizens.BH/BH
