Health Minister Leaves Geneva After Participating in the 79th World Health Assembly

Geneva, May 22, 2026 (SUNA) – Federal Minister of Health Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim left Geneva following his participation in the 79th session of the World Health Assembly, held from May 18 to 23, 2026, with the participation of health ministers, representatives of member states, international organizations, and health partners. The minister and his accompanying delegation conducted intensive bilateral and multilateral engagements, holding several meetings with health ministers, officials of the World Health Organization (WHO), international health funds, and partnerships. The discussions focused on supporting Sudan’s health priorities, strengthening cooperation in combating epidemics, malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, strengthening the health system, and mobilizing resources for the next phase. The participation also provided an opportunity to brief the international community on developments in the health and humanitarian situation in Sudan and the Ministry of Health’s efforts to transition from emergency response to recovery and rebuilding the health system. The minister highlighted opportunities to enhance health partnerships, support national programmes, and expand technical and financial cooperation with international partners.BH/BH
