Geneva, May, 18 (SUNA) – Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, participated in the 64th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, held in Geneva on Monday alongside the 79th session of the World Health Assembly. The session discussed a number of priority health issues across the Arab region, foremost among them the health situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as coordination of a unified Arab position to safeguard the region’s priorities amid ongoing discussions on reforming the global health governance system. The meeting also reviewed several health and technical issues, including strengthening blood transfusion services, the 2026 Arab Doctor Resilience Award, the Arab strategy for improving maternal, child, and adolescent health, preparations for the first Arab-Indian Health Partnership Conference scheduled for 2027, the observance of Arab Health Day 2026, and the role of the Arab Fund for Health Development. The session adopted a number of agenda items and renewed support for draft resolutions concerning Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan, as well as the health emergency situation in Lebanon, within the framework of the Arab position supporting the protection of the health sector and responding to humanitarian and health needs in crisis-affected Arab countries.BH/BH
