Health Minister Praises Efforts of Quarantine Facilities in Red Sea State

PORT SUDAN, June 10, 2026 (SUNA) — Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday visited health quarantine facilities in Red Sea State. The Minister praised the efforts of health workers, commending their role in safeguarding the country through the implementation of health regulations for incoming travellers. He also lauded the notable development in food control laboratories at quarantine centers, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to addressing gaps and further enhancing capacities. He expressed appreciation to the quarantine administration for hosting the Federal Ministry of Health during the previous period. As part of his visit to Red Sea State, the Minister proceeded to the State Ministry of Health, where he was received by the Director General and Acting Minister of the Health Sector, Dr. Ahlam Abdel-Rasoul. An expanded meeting was held with participation from health directorates and representatives of several hospitals, including Prince Osman Digna Hospital, Port Sudan Hospital, Suakin Hospital, the Paediatrics Hospital, the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital, and Medical Supplies. The Minister received comprehensive briefings on the current health situation and challenges facing the sector, commending the efforts of medical cadres and the noticeable improvements in health service delivery. He reaffirmed the continuation of federal support through various health programmes and called for the development of services in rural areas to improve healthcare delivery and expand access across all parts of the state.BH/BH
