Higher Education Minister Calls for Strong Educational Platform

Khartoum, April 1, 2026 (SUNA) — Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Ahmed Modawi Musa, emphasized that the current phase requires establishing a robust educational platform built on quality, excellence, and innovation. He highlighted the growing focus on private, community, and foreign higher education as a cornerstone for strengthening Sudan’s higher education system, stressing that academic outcomes must contribute to the country’s advancement. The minister made these remarks during a visit on Wednesday morning to Al-Qalam College for Science and Technology in Omdurman. He noted that the state relies heavily on youth and students in national reconstruction, pointing out that the damage to higher education institutions by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia was deliberate, but affirmed that national will is stronger than all challenges.Professor Modawi called for instilling national values in students and fostering ambition and responsibility, emphasizing that this generation is eager to achieve its goals and contribute to Sudan’s development. He added that building the nation requires investing in students’ minds and empowering them to innovate in medicine, agriculture, mining, and other sciences and technologies, positioning Sudan for regional and global advancement.The minister and accompanying delegation were received by Dean of the College Professor Godatallah Othman and faculty members, conducting an inspection of classrooms to review student exams. He praised the college administration for maintaining educational continuity despite wartime conditions and commended the armed forces and supporting units for securing the country, which restored stability and reassurance for students and families.Godatallah Othman briefed the minister on the college’s situation, highlighting past challenges and efforts to ensure continuity of education and maintain the quality of academic outputs.BH/BH
