Türkiye, 4 August 2026 (SUNA) – Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Professor Ahmed Modawi Musa continued the second day of his official visit to Türkiye, aimed at strengthening academic and research ties and expanding cooperation between higher education institutions in the two countries. The Sudanese delegation visited several leading Turkish universities, including Hacettepe University, Ankara University, and Middle East Technical University (METU), where they reviewed their experiences in higher education, scientific research, and innovation, and held discussions on expanding academic and research partnerships. The visit concluded with the signing of academic cooperation agreements between Middle East Technical University (METU) and five Sudanese universities: University of Khartoum, Sudan University of Science and Technology, University of Gezira, Nile Valley University, and University of Nyala. The agreements aim to enhance cooperation in academic and scientific exchange, joint research, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and the development of collaborative academic programs and projects. Professor Ahmed Modawi Musa said the scientific and academic cooperation program between Sudan and Türkiye would extend beyond the five signatory institutions to include all Sudanese and Turkish universities, fostering a broad and sustainable partnership in higher education and scientific research. Sudan’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Nadir Yousuf, described the agreements as an important step in advancing bilateral cooperation in higher education and research, reaffirming the embassy’s commitment to supporting the implementation of the agreements and expanding academic collaboration between the two countries.BH/BH
