Amman, July 15 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat on Tuesday stressed the importance of Jordanian-Egyptian agricultural integration.
Hneifat noted the “strong historic” bilateral relations, which are reflected in various fields, especially agricultural cooperation, which is an “important” pillar of the Arab food security system.
Hneifat made the remarks during his meeting with Head of Agricultural Professions Syndicate in Egypt, Dr. Sayed Khalifa, and Head of the Egyptian Agricultural Research Center, Dr. Adel Abdel Azim.
Talking at the meeting, Hneifat called for advancing these relations by strengthening bilateral coordination and activating joint work, mainly exchange of technical and technological expertise and facilitation of joint agricultural trade.
Hneifat referred to the available opportunities to benefit from “high-quality” Jordanian agricultural production inputs, primarily improved seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and veterinary medicines.
Hneifat called for opening direct communication channels between the two countries’ relevant authorities and the private sector to invest these opportunities into “practical and constructive” projects.
For his part, Dr. Khalifa emphasized the “deep-rooted” professional relations between the Jordanian and Egyptian agricultural associations, which represents a “successful model” of cooperation between Arab agricultural institutions.
The two associations are working together to exchange expertise and technical training, and build strategic partnerships aimed at achieving the two countries’ agricultural integration and enhancing productivity, he pointed out.
Dr. Abdel Azim, for his part, said the visit would open “new” horizons for scientific and research cooperation.
Jordanian and Egyptian private sectors intend to launch a direct networking process, particularly in the fields of seed and fertilizer production and development, he said.
He called for holding “immediate” meetings for the two countries’ investors to facilitate cooperation and ease the flow of Jordanian products into the Egyptian market.
Saleh Yassin, President of the Jordanian-Egyptian Agricultural Traders and Producers Association, said Jordanian-Egyptian agricultural relations are witnessing “remarkable” development, referring to the presence of many Jordanian companies and factories operating in the Egyptian market.
This investment, he stated, demonstrates the “depth” of mutual trust and the importance of continuing economic partnership on “solid” foundations that benefit both countries.
President of the Jordanian Agricultural Engineers Association, Ali Abu Nuqta, remarked this visit comes within the context of the arrangements and coordination held by the two associations in Jordan and Egypt.
This effort, he said, comes within a shared vision aimed at expanding the base of technical cooperation, enhancing the capabilities of the two countries’ agricultural sector and serving interests of agricultural engineers and farmers.
