Amman, Aug. 27 (Petra) — Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi met Greek
President Konstantinos Tasoulas in Athens on Wednesday during an
official visit at the invitation of his Greek counterpart.

During the meeting, Qadi stressed the strength of bilateral relations
and Jordan’s interest in further developing cooperation across
various fields, particularly parliamentary ties.

The Greek president affirmed the strength of relations between the
two countries and expressed his country’s appreciation for His
Majesty King Abdullah II’s efforts to promote security and stability
in the region.

Tasoulas stressed Greece’s continued support for strengthening
relations between the European Union and Jordan, highlighting the
importance Athens places on parliamentary diplomacy in deepening
bilateral ties and expanding cooperation.

On the Palestinian issue, the Greek president reaffirmed his
country’s support for advancing a political process leading to a
two-state solution that ensures lasting peace, security, and
prosperity.

He also stressed the importance of preserving the status quo at the
holy sites in Jerusalem and expressed appreciation for the Hashemite
Custodianship over Muslim and Christian holy sites in the city.

Qadi stated that Jordanian-Greek relations are founded on mutual
respect, cooperation, and continued coordination, noting both
countries’ commitment to maintaining consultations on issues of
mutual interest.

He indicated that bilateral relations have expanded in recent years
and pointed to opportunities for developing new partnerships in
various sectors to further broaden cooperation between the two
countries.

Qadi also stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy as a key
component of Jordanian-Greek relations through increased reciprocal
visits, exchanges of expertise, the establishment of bilateral
parliamentary committees, and coordination at international
parliamentary forums.

He expressed Jordan’s appreciation for Greece’s support for the
two-state solution and the Hashemite Custodianship over Muslim and
Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
