Human Appeal UK’s Sudan Office Delivers Extensive Humanitarian Support Amid Crisis

Khartoum, March 24, 2026 (SUNA) — Human Appeal UK’s Sudan office has provided extensive emergency assistance since the outbreak of conflict in the country, Elham Al-Mubarak, the organization’s Projects Director, told the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) in a special interview that will be published later.The aid included distribution of food, emergency shelters, and other essential relief items to vulnerable populations and displaced persons. During Ramadan, the organization provided iftar meals for 3,500 families and 25,000 individuals in Al-Obeid for one week, as well as 1,800 temporary shelters in Al-Gadarif and 600 Ramadan food baskets. Ready-to-eat meals were also delivered in Omdurman and Khartoum, alongside 500 hygiene kits to prevent disease, public health awareness campaigns, the provision of potable water at the Al-Afadh camp in Northern State, and essential supplies for hospitals.Elham Al-Mubarak emphasized that the organization prioritized the health sector, which had previously suffered a collapse affecting 70–80% of medical facilities. Interventions included supplying 30,000 meals to patients at Al-Nu Hospital, supporting hospitals with essential medical supplies, and deploying mobile clinics that served 89,000 people. The organization also contributed to education by supporting orphans and distributing 500 assistive hearing devices for people with hearing disabilities. Furthermore, a cash-for-work program was launched to support livelihoods, with activities extended to Khartoum, Northern State, Blue Nile State, and North Kordofan, aiming to reach the maximum number of affected people.Elham Al-Mubarak highlighted that the organization has issued urgent international appeals to mobilize funding and draw attention to Sudan’s humanitarian crisis. She added that these efforts have played a critical role in saving lives, alleviating the suffering of displaced populations, empowering local communities, and strengthening educational services, while contributing to the development of a comprehensive humanitarian infrastructure across the country.BH/BH
