Occupied Jerusalem, July 23 (QNA) – Hundreds of Israeli colonists stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Thursday under the protection of Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).
According to WAFA news agency, citing the Jerusalem Governorate, at least 900 colonists entered the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque as events marking the so-called “anniversary of the destruction of the temple” were being observed.
WAFA added that Israeli forces allowed larger groups to enter during the incursions, with each group numbering up to 150 colonists.
The incursions come amid Israeli efforts to erase Jerusalem’s Islamic and historical identity and implement plans for the temporal and spatial division of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. During these visits, colonists continue to perform Talmudic rituals.
Al-Aqsa Mosque has been subjected to increasingly frequent incursions, which is a serious escalation and a violation of the sanctity of the mosque. (QNA)
