Khartoum, June 28, 2026 (SUNA) — Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism Khalid Al-Eiser visited the headquarters of the Sudan Radio and Television Corporation in Omdurman on Monday to review final preparations for the technical and architectural rehabilitation of the facility as part of the third and final phase of the restoration plan. He was received by Television Sector Director Al-Waleed Mustafa, National Channel Director Al-Nour Maani, directors of general and specialised departments, and a number of senior engineering, technical, and programming officials. During the visit, the minister reviewed progress on the development and outfitting of three new television studios, including architectural and aesthetic works, as well as preparations for the transition to high-definition (HD) broadcasting, with maintenance work nearing completion. Al-Eiser reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing all necessary support to enable Sudan National Television and Sudan Radio to resume operations at full efficiency in the coming period. He also reiterated his full support for the corporation’s staff to help them fulfil their role in the country’s reconstruction and development efforts. The minister congratulated employees on the success of the 12-hour live broadcast transmitted by Sudan National Television from the city of El Obeid on Sunday. He said the programme showcased various aspects of daily life in the city, reflecting its stability and refuting the misinformation and rumours circulated by media rooms affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its supporters. The ministry completed the first regional broadcasting centre of the Sudan Radio and Television Corporation in Red Sea State on November 19, 2025. On January 30, 2026, Al-Eiser, accompanied by the Wali of River Nile State, laid the foundation stone for the corporation’s second regional broadcasting centre in Atbara, as part of the ministry’s plan to expand modern state-level media centres aimed at improving media services across Sudan and ensuring more equitable and efficient service delivery.BH/BH
