Baghdad, June 23 (Petra) – Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday expressed its full solidarity with Qatar following the recent missile strike, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the Gulf nation’s sovereignty and security.
In a statement, the ministry said it is following with “deep concern the dangerous and accelerating escalation unfolding in the region,” particularly in light of the attack on Qatar.
The ministry reaffirmed Iraq’s support for the sisterly state of Qatar, underscoring the need to protect its territorial integrity. It also noted that Iraq had previously warned of the possibility of such a development due to the serious risks it poses to the stability and security of the entire region.
“This escalation marks a dangerous and unprecedented turning point in the trajectory of the conflict,” the ministry said, reiterating Iraq’s repeated warnings about the peril of new actors becoming involved a scenario it said Israel has long sought by continuing its aggression over the past two years.
