Occupied Jerusalem, Sept 29 (Petra) – Dozens of right-wing Israelis and settlers stormed into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem on Monday under heavy police escort, the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf (endowments) Department said.
The settlers broke into the compound from the Magharebah Gate, made provocations and performed prayers as police imposed tight security at the gates of the walled Old City of Jerusalem to deny worshippers access into the complex, one of Islam’s holiest shrines.
In the West Bank, Israeli occupation forces staged a large-scale search-and-arrest campaign across cities and villages and rounded up 40 “wanted” Palestinians, including ex-prisoners.
The occupation army also handed out stop-work orders to three homes under construction and a concrete factory in Hajja village, east of Qalqilya, in the northern West Bank, according to the local council.
