A joint delegation from the Federal Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) conducted an official supervisory visit to the Quarantine Sector in White Nile State, including the Joda border crossing, as part of efforts to strengthen public health preparedness.The visit aimed to assess the readiness of points of entry and border crossings to respond to potential Ebola outbreaks and other cross-border infectious diseases. The delegation reviewed the implementation of quarantine procedures, early surveillance, reporting and response systems, as well as infrastructure, equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and staffing levels.The team also assessed Joda Hospital, the proposed isolation center, and health facilities at the border crossing, evaluating the preparedness of isolation units, the availability of protocols for handling suspected cases, diagnostic capabilities, referral systems, and the availability of medicines and essential medical supplies.The delegation held a coordination meeting with the UNHCR office at the border crossing to discuss cooperation mechanisms, emergency preparedness plans, the role of partners in supporting quarantine services, and priority gaps and needs. The visit concluded with technical recommendations aimed at strengthening performance and enhancing the preparedness of the border crossing and health personnel.BH/BH
