Amman, Sept 3 (Petra) – The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs condemned on Wednesday the Israeli attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), describing it as a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and UN Security Council Resolution 1701, as well as a flagrant breach of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
Ministry spokesperson Fouad Majali affirmed Jordan’s rejection and denunciation of the attack, stressing that it follows the Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2790, which renewed UNIFIL’s mandate, and reflects Israel’s systematic practices that threaten regional stability and international peace and security.
Majali warned against the continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel and highlighted the serious consequences of such breaches and ongoing Israeli escalation in the region, which pose a threat to the security and stability of the entire region.
He reiterated Jordan’s commitment to supporting Lebanon, its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens, emphasizing the necessity of full adherence to all provisions of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel.
