Amman, August 22 (Petra) – The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate
Affairs condemned on Saturday an Israeli drone attack on a vehicle in
the village of Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside, which
injured several civilians.
The Ministry called the attack “a blatant violation of the
sovereignty, security, and stability of the sisterly Syrian Arab
Republic, and a flagrant breach of international law and the UN
Charter.”
The Ministry’s official spokesperson, Fouad Majali, called for a halt
to all recurrent Israeli attacks and actions targeting Syria’s
security and stability.
Such violations contravene Israel’s obligations under the 1974
Disengagement Agreement, and represent a dangerous and provocative
escalation that will only fuel conflict and tension in the region, he
warned.
Majali called on the international community to uphold its legal and
moral responsibility to compel Israel to cease the provocative and
illegal attacks on Syria, end its occupation of parts of Syrian
territory, and adhere to international law, UN resolutions, and the
sovereignty of states, and refrain from interfering in their internal
affairs.
He also reiterated Jordan’s unwavering support for Syria in its
reconstruction efforts, based on principles that guarantee its unity,
sovereignty, security, stability, territorial integrity, and the
safety of its citizens, while safeguarding the rights of all Syrians.
