Amman, August 22 (Petra)– The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs condemned Israel’s ongoing restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip have resulted in dangerous levels of famine, as confirmed by the recent report released by the UN Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), which elevated the food crisis in Gaza to Phase 5, the final level, indicating famine.
The Ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Sufian Al-Qudah, said that this announcement is a dangerous indicator of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip due to the systematic inhumane policies and measures of the Israeli government, which has turned starvation into a weapon against the Palestinians.
Ambassador Al-Qudah urged the international community to take swift action to force Israel to stop its assault against Gaza, put an end to the starvation and humanitarian crisis that the aggression has generated and made worse, and permit adequate and long-term access to aid in the Strip.
