Amman, Dec. 18 (Petra) — Jordan and Egypt on Thursday signed a renewed agreement to continue the exchange of electrical power, in a ceremony held in Cairo attended by Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh, Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, and Jordan’s Deputy Ambassador to Cairo Riyad Najada.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Jordan by National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) Director General Sufian Bataineh and on the Egyptian side by Mona Rizq, Chair of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company.
The contract aims to ensure continuity of electricity exchange over the coming year, supporting grid stability and generating economic returns for both countries.
On its broader goals, the agreement comes as part of Jordan’s efforts to advance the Economic Modernization Vision, strengthen energy security and reliability, improve resource efficiency, and promote regional integration in the energy sector in support of broader economic development.
