Amman, Dec. 9 (Petra) Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Minister Imad Hijazin took part in the 28th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, hosted in Baghdad with the participation of tourism ministers and officials from across the Arab region.
According to a statement issued Tuesday by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the meetings discussed several files aimed at developing the Arab tourism industry, supporting the sector’s role in achieving sustainable development, boosting its contribution to improving balance-of-payments performance, and increasing income sources in Arab states. The agenda also included mechanisms for creating direct and indirect job opportunities.
Hijazin submitted a memorandum on the ArabiTrips platform initiative, with the council’s Executive Office approving its adoption as an Arab platform for tourism promotion.
The council expressed appreciation to Jordan for designing and implementing the pioneering platform and invited member states to help enrich its content and encourage private-sector participation, noting its direct impact on supporting joint Arab tourism promotion.
ArabiTrips is the first Arab platform dedicated to promoting travel destinations through video content, modelled on social media networks, with a focus on reaching global audiences interested in travel and tourism and enhancing direct interaction between viewers and content creators.
The platform is positioned as a strategic project aimed at empowering local communities by highlighting heritage, cultural and natural sites that have not received adequate attention, thereby supporting local economies and creating new job opportunities.
The platform also supports influencers and content creators across Arab countries through direct contracts to produce innovative visual content showcasing the authenticity and appeal of tourism destinations.
